ROBEX LUNDGREN MUSIK BLOGG INTERVIEW
What´s the name of your band?
Aenemica
How was the band formed?
The band exists since October 2012 and at the very beginning it was a side-project of John (drums) and David (guitar), at the time their previous bands dissolved. Then Dima (bass) and Fabio (guitar) joined the band. John and David knew them from former band projects. We found Daniel on a local radio station which broadcasted a sing-a-song contest at that time. We sent him some demo-recordings and almost two hours later he was announced as our frontman.
Can you tell about your band?
We’re an alternative-progressive rock band from Iserlohn Germany. Our band name is a made-up word which could be translated as “heart of stone”. The name reflects in our songs too, as a melancholic and powerful mixture of progressive rhythms, various riffs of clean and distorted guitars and emotional vocals and lyrics.
What was the ambitions of the band when you started?
Our ambitions were, like they are until today, to create a new sound of music which is independent from every musical trend. We wanted to reach and touch a numerous audience that can identify with our own style and lyrics.
Could you explain your music to someone that haven’t heard you?
Yeah, I think our music is a special mixture of different musical styles and directions. Our influences reach from pop/rock over rnb up to metal and also some classical tunes. We combined progressive rhythms with sometimes harder and also smoother guitar riffs, keys and sometimes warm and sensitive and sometimes aggressive lyrics. Our lyrics deal with feelings and problems that probably everyone knows. They are filled with situations and emotions that we’ve been going through in our lives, from heartaches over the feeling of loss and also insecurity.
Who writes your songs?/Who writes the music who writes lyrics?
Generally David, John and Daniel write the songs. David and John concentrate on the instrumentals, the rhythm, riffs, keys and Daniel cares about the vocals and at least the lyrics.
Have you made any albums?/If yes what are they?
Yes, we released our EP “Empty Inside” in august 2014. You can hear and download it on iTunes, Spotify, amazon and many many more or, if you want, you can order a physical cd directly www.aenemica.bandcamp.com.
Do you have any clips on YouTube?
Yeah, in 2012 we made an official video clip to our first single “Empty Inside” and many more.
What year was the band started?
We started to work together in 2012.
What are the plans for the rest of the year?
Haha, enjoy the short rest of the year, work on a few song ideas and survive the turn of the year, would be good I think. But in 2015 we will work on our upcoming album “Anatomy of Sadness” and heading for playing numerous gigs throughout Germany.
When did you decide to go all in for the music?
After publishing our EP “Empty Inside” we realised how much feedback we got from all over the world. That encouraged us to work more intensively on our music and band future.
What are your sources of inspiration?
Emotions, feelings and situations from the real life that everyone probably has to face.
What’s the first step when making a new song?
Most of the times we started with just a short riff or a lyric idea and then we tried build a complete song around these ideas. We take these short parts, work on it at the rehearsals and afterwards we record them to work on it at home. So we are working from part to part trying to stay in the flow. Then we focus on the vocals, what may take some days and nights. At last we concentrate on the finess, John works on the drumline and Daniel writes the lyrics. When we’re finished we can concentrate on the recordings.
How important are your fans?
Our fans are most important for us, because they give us the support we need to continue our work.
How often do you rehearse?
We rehearse up to three times a week and then at least three hours a day.
Name 2 of your own songs you like at the moment?
First of all “Empty Inside” is a very important song for us, because it’s based on true events, which are giving the song a very special meaning to us. Then there is “Beautiful Lie” because of the two different parts that make the song so emotional and intense, caused by the contrast between the different arrangements.

What was one of the most quarrelsome times for you in the band?
Hahaha. Every time we when we’re sitting together working on a new song and everyone has its own special ideas for the next song parts. But without these times there would be no progress.
